This paper aims to rigorously define the phenomenon, moving the concept from a materials science curiosity to a rigorous mathematical construct. We explore the hypothesis that by decoupling deformation from bond rupture, dbrsolids represent a distinct state of mechanical matter.
We constructed a 2D simulation of a lattice comprised of 10,000 nodes interacting via a Lennard-Jones potential modified with a hysteresis loop for bond reformation. dbrsolids
