Hatim — Duası Diyanet

This feature is based on classical Islamic jurisprudence (Hanafi school, prevalent in Turkey) and the official publications of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı).

: Seeking refuge from useless knowledge and an unfeeling heart.

: Cleansing of the heart and forgiveness of sins.

The prayer asks Allah to make the Qur’an a proof ( hujjah ) in one’s favor on the Day of Judgment, not against them. It echoes the famous hadith: "Read the Qur’an, for it will come as an intercessor for its companions on the Day of Resurrection" (Sahih Muslim).

Halk arasında yaygın olarak bilinen "Seyfullah" duası, aslında Hz. Peygamber (s.a.v.)'in öğrettiği duaların ve Kur'an ayetlerinin bir bileşimidir. "Seyfullah" kelime anlamı olarak "Allah'ın Kılıcı" demektir. Bu ismin verilmesinin sebebi, duanın manevi bir kalkan ve güç kaynağı olarak görülmesidir. Diyanet ve diğer ilmi çevreler, bu duanın manevi bir bereket vesilesi olduğunu, ancak asıl tevhid inancının Kur'an ayetlerine dayandığını belirtir.
