How to Change a Windows User Folder Name

⚠️ Important Warning: Changing your user folder name incorrectly can break app installations, Windows settings, and profile links. Back up your data before proceeding.

Method 1: Clean Method (Recommended) This method creates a new profile with the correct folder name. Steps:

Create a new local administrator account windows users folder name change

Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users Click "Add someone else to this PC" Create a new account with the desired username

Make the new account an administrator

Log into the new account

Migrate your data

Copy files from C:\Users\OldName\ to C:\Users\NewName\ Reinstall required applications Steps: Create a new local administrator account Go

Delete the old account

Go back to Settings → Accounts → Family & other users Remove the old account
