Update Powershell Windows 11

Note: The installer will close your current PowerShell window automatically during the process.

After updating, it is common for Windows Terminal to default to the older Windows PowerShell (5.1) unless you change your settings. To verify the new version is installed: update powershell windows 11

If you already have PowerShell 7 or higher installed, update it from within PowerShell itself. Note: The installer will close your current PowerShell

Before updating, verify which version you are currently running: update powershell windows 11

PowerShell 7 is significantly faster than the legacy 5.1 version for most tasks.
