Born as Koriand'r, Starfire is an alien from the planet Tamaran, a member of the Zamarons, a matriarchal, technologically advanced species. Abducted by the villainous alien, Trigon, and later by the villainous alien Queen Komand'r (her sister), and eventually sold as a slave, Starfire's early life was marked by struggle and hardship. After escaping from her captors, Starfire found herself on Earth, where she was taken in by the Teen Titans, a group of young superheroes fighting to protect the planet from various threats.
