Ps3 Pkg: Roms

RPCS3, the leading PS3 emulator, supports installing PKG files directly. This is often easier than loading a disc ISO.

A PKG is not a traditional disc-based ROM. It’s an installer for digital content.

In emulation, a “ROM” is a digital copy of a game cartridge or disc. For optical media consoles like the PS3, the correct term is actually ISO or folder dump (a copy of the disc’s file structure). But over time, people started using “ROM” as a catch-all for any game file.

High-definition retail games regularly surpass the 4GB file threshold. Because FAT32 does not support single files over this size, you must use alternative file systems alongside homebrew plugins.
