Abbott Elementary S01e03 4k

Abbott Elementary is shot to look like a real documentary crew following teachers through fluorescent hell. In 4K HDR, that harshness becomes a storytelling tool.

In S01E03, the teachers at Abbott participate in "Wishlist Week," a period where they solicit the local community for much-needed school supplies that the city fails to provide.

: Enthusiastic second-grade teacher Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson) enlists Principal Ava Coleman (Janelle James) to help her create a TikTok video to fulfill her classroom wishlist. While Janine's video is successful, Ava’s follow-up video for veteran teacher Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph) crosses a line into "tragedy porn," much to Janine's dismay.

Abbott Elementary Season 1, Episode 3 is the point where the show proved it wasn't just a flash in the pan. It successfully blended cringe comedy with a very real commentary on the disparity in school funding. Watching it in 4K doesn't change the script, but it does bring you closer to the characters, making the hallways of Abbott feel like a real place—and a place you’ll want to keep visiting.
