The movie revolves around Dev (Shah Rukh Khan), a Dubai-based Indian who falls in love with Soumya (Kajol), a Mumbai-based Indian. However, their love is put to the test when Dev's friends, including Kunal (Varun Dhawan), get involved in a rivalry with a local don, Rana (Sanjay Mishra).
