Apple’s CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) architecture treats the M479fdw well, but with a caveat. While AirPrint works instantly over Wi-Fi, it does not support the full 4800 x 4800 dpi scan resolution or the stapling finisher. Users must download the 200+ MB HP Easy Start package to unlock “HP Scanner” in Image Capture.
