There was a specific "punch" you could achieve with Filterbank3 that was difficult to replicate elsewhere. By engaging the filter envelope and adding a touch of drive, you could take a flat, 909-style kick drum and turn it into a compressed, punchy hammer. It became a staple for adding "snap" to transients and "grit" to sub-bass loops.
