If your Taskbar is getting cluttered, pinning the printer to your Start Menu is a great alternative. It keeps the icon out of the way but still accessible with two clicks.
This will create a "Desktop" button on your Taskbar. When you click it, it expands to show every icon currently on your Desktop—including the printer shortcut you created in Method 1. add printer icon to taskbar
