Bootstrap Bill was not originally a monster of the deep. He was a loyal crewman aboard the Black Pearl under Captain Jack Sparrow. However, when Sparrow was marooned and the ship was seized by the mutinous Hector Barbossa, Bootstrap Bill stood alone.
