Fertilizer is essentially salt. If you put too much fertilizer near a plant, the soil water becomes highly concentrated (low water potential).

Water moves into roots automatically when soil has less salt/sugar than the root cells. Once inside, pressure builds = leaves go from 🥀 to 🌿. osmosis for plants
